John from www.growingyourgreens.com goes on a field trip to the 2011 Chicago Flower and Garden show to find out if they are showing examples of urban gardening to show people what is possible in their front yard or backyard to grow their own food. John feels strongly that each person should grow a portion of the food they need to eat. Places like garden shows should show people what is truly possible in a small space. In addition, you will learn a few ways to grow vertically and John will visit a few vendor booths that offer products that allow you to grow more food at home.
This video is two updates in one. It begins with February 1 at 0:00, and then February 21 is at 5:17. Tomatoes have been relocated to their own private island floating on top of an aquarium. Peppers are huge but the tomatoes are ridiculous, not sure they’ll make it. Bhut Jolokias and habaneros are right about where they’re suposed to be. All my C. annum cultivars are growing a little ahead of schedule. I’ll probably be pinching flowers off of them by april.
