1. Having a lightning rod on the house cuts down on accidental lightning strikes.
2. Here's a link to a tutorial on how to get the wishing well:
http://thesims2.ea.com/exchange/story_detail.php?asset_id=149131&asset_type=story&user_id=3746396
3. They judge you on the condition of your garden and the other items you have in your yard. See the tutorial in question two.
4. Here's a link to a tutorial on how to become a plant sim:
http://thesims2.ea.com/exchange/story_detail.php?asset_id=149356&asset_type=story&user_id=3746396
5. If you have a greenhouse, then you can garden all year long. If you are planting outdoors, then you need to start in the spring. If you don't want your sim to become a plant sim, remember to use the ladybug houses to keep down bugs. Don't place the fruit trees in the greenhouse because they will still rest in winter, so it's a waste of your greenhouse space.

Good luck!

1. I have never been struck by lightning in the game. I just stay out of puddles and keep from getting wet. Also, if there's a lot of lightning, I just keep them in sometimes.

2. To get the wishing well, you need one of your sims to become part of the Garden Club. After that your sim will receive a wishing well.

3. The Garden Club will judge your fruit trees (healthy, bug free), they will be pleased if you have a compost and you have checked all your plants/trees and made sure they are watered and bug free. If you have a newpaper on the ground or a pet has dug a whole in the ground the Gardeners will not be pleased.

4. There is the POSSIBILITY that your sim will become a plant if you use pesticide. You could spray lots of infected plants and you might become one.
You might have to have a gold badge in gardening.
Another way would be:
using the cheat:
boolprop testingcheatsenabled true
enter the cheat in the cheat box (control shift c)
then select the sim you want to become a plant
hold shift and click on your sim
somewhere the option "make plant sim" or similar should appear
i'm afraid you might have to explore the options a bit
Another option:
using the same cheat, press shift and click on the sim you want to be a plant, and find "badge juicer". (or MAYBE it's from clicking on the mailbox but I don't think so)
after that, click on the badge juicer (a little boat that appears) and click Gardening and gold. then try the pesticide and talking to trees and eventually you will become a tree

5. Plant and care for your garden before the Garden Club comes because the more and better your garden is, the better the Gardeners will like it. As for the season, I would recommend starting in the Spring.
Faith is right in saying that with a greenhouse, you can harvest or plant any season.

Good Luck!!!!
