We are going on vacation, and are going to be away for 3 days. We do not have a hose or a sprinkler, so that will not work. I was wondering if there is some method for watering my garden. Any suggestions would help..
Thanks in advance!!

If it is plants you want watered, you can get plastic pop or milk bottles, with the lids. I poke a couple of small holes in the bottom, plant it into the soil near the plant or flower, with the lid part up, and fill it with water. If you keep the lid, you can remove it to fill with water, and replace it after filling. This will prevent mosquitos laying eggs in the water, which is important in this time of West Nile Virus.
You can do this even when staying at home. It is less work than having to water daily, and all you need do is fill up each bottle and you’re good for a few days.
Hope this helps.
Ask a neighbor, return the favor for him, later.
Well, you could always have an underwater system put in, then you set when it waters automatically. This is a bit pricey I think, but we have one, and WOW…..doesn’t’ matter what the weather is, we always have GREAT tomatoes. It waters every other morning at 5 am which by the way is the best time to water. If money is an issue, talk to a neighbor and maybe they’ll do it for you. You can always pray, and the big guy in Heaven might just see things your way
Hope everything turns out okay. Take care!
check the forecast. leave on a rainy weekend
Three days will do no harm, just water well before leaving and after returning home.
he rain water will take care of it since there is so much rain.
If you water it before you leave and again when you return I don’t see any reason why leaving it to nature for 3 days would cause any harm. Otherwise, hire a teen neighbor to come and do it for you.
Water really well before you leave, then place mulch around the plants to conserve the moisture. Mulch can be the bagged wood chips you can buy most anywhere, or small gravel, or pine needles, or even shredded paper that’s moist. I would also suggest buying a soaker hose and a timer for it. If there is no faucet available, you can take gallon jugs and poke a small hole in the bottom, fill them with water and set them near the most valuable plants. I’ve also seen products for sale that are basically heavy duty plastic bags in a donut shape that leak water out slowly, which is the same concept as the milk jugs. If the plants are established already, you may not need to water about watering over just a three day period.
